This combination includes one softcover cookbook with traditional binding, and one softcover field guide with traditional binding (a second cookbook is shown opened, above, for clarity). The cookbook has the traditional flat spine, like most paperback books. This book looks great on a bookshelf, because the title is printed on the spine and the spine looks neat. It does not lay completely flat when opened, and must have something on top of it to hold it open.
